Yukka Moutain is not a particularlly geologically stable area. The Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) in New Mexico is a better option. Located 26 miles southeast of Carlsbad, New Mexico, WIPP permanently isolates defense-generated transuranic (TRU) waste 2,150 feet underground in an ancient salt formation. The problem is politics. New Mexico doesn't want everyone's waste. Congress should offer New Mexico lots of goodies if they take on the role of taking most of the nation's nuclear reactor waste.
